The
Prism Orchestra
Composer/USA: American Record Guide:
One of New York's leading new music orchestras, a widely acclaimed conductor, and three well-established composers are featured on this CD. William Thomas McKinley's music has been performed by such groups and soloists as the Chicago Symphony, the Boston Symphony, Tashi, the Los Angeles Piano Quartet, Peter Serkin, and Richard Goode. His music has been praised in Newsweek, The New York Times, Boston Globe, New York Magazine, and the Village Voice. Once identified as a "promising young composer" in the New York Post, Clare Shore has since had her music performed in Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Charleston's Spoleto Festival, and the Barns of Wolftrap. David Macbride has written over one hundred works, ranging from solo, chamber and orchestral pieces to music for film, TV, dance and theatre. Among his many awards are the George Enescu International Composition Competition Winner and the Leo Snyder Memorial Composition Prize. Conductor Robert
Black has been praised by The New York Times, Chicago
Tribune, Los
Angeles Times,
and the New York press in general. The New
Yorker wrote: "Mr. Black conducted with the warming combination
of advocacy, emotional commitment, and accuracy which distinguishes all
he does." |
